Dreams

Dreams…! What comes to your mind, when you hear the word ‘dreams’?
(Hope, you gave it a thought...!)

Well, yes. Dreams are something which we get in our sleep.

Now, the dreams we get in our sleep, last only for a few seconds, or as long as twenty minutes. People are more likely to remember the dream if they are awakened during the REM (rapid eye movement) phase.

The average person has three to five dreams per night, but some may have up to seven dreams in one night. The dreams tend to last longer as the night progresses. During a full eight-hour night sleep, two hours of it is spent dreaming.

Now, we seek nothing from such dreams. As I said… they occur almost every day, to everyone. At most, we can memorize them and if they turn out to be funny… might share with our friends and have fun. Nothing much else can be sought from them.

But, the dreams which I would like to talk now are totally different. These are the dreams, which will transform a person’s life. These are the dreams, which will instill some hope into human life saying, “This is the reason, I am here.” “I need to achieve it.” “I want to become a doctor, director, engineer etc” and also, “I want to see Italy, Spain, etc”

Dreams are something, for which we work, to attain them and in turn adore the moment we achieve them.
Dreams are something, which give us a hope to live and make us realize  how beautiful our life is, when we live what we have dreamt of.

A person without a dream to achieve is a person without a life at all. What is a life when it has no dreams? When I say dreams, I am not meaning to “have a dream of going on a date with Sharukh, for girls and Katrina, for boys”..!

If you want to know the value of a dream… ask your favorite sportsman or your favorite hero, that “How does it feel to have live your dream and be so famous?”

Having a dream doesn’t only mean to be famous. Here, on this stage… as we are having this speech… someone out there might be dreaming of this, that “I wish I was in TCS” or something like that, because this card here, has got a lot of respect, out there. We stand an inspiration to many students.

Similarly, even we should have some inspiration and a dream to live on.

I had many dreams. I wanted to make a short film, I did 3. I wanted to do photography and I stood first in GUSAC carnival of my college, GITAM Univ. I want to see at least 10 foreign places, and I have seen 2 countries already. I wanted to be in TCS, and now i am in.

Also, I have lost almost 22 years of my life with stage fear and timidity. But I wanted to overcome it and live a bold life, and i am in those trials now.
Apart from these, I had been working on the biggest dream of my life; and I am living only with the hope that, one day… I will achieve it. (Fingers crossed actually)

People are not afraid of dreaming. They are afraid of the consequences, they might get to face when they fail in what they wanted to do. I have seen many of my friends who have joined college, irrespective of their interest in the field of their study. They wanted to be something else. Some of them wanted to be cricket players; some wanted to be directors, some musicians and so on.

But they have joined college, because they were not sure of their potential. But now, they have ended up becoming nothing at all. Neither what they have dreamt of, nor what their parents have dreamt of. Some of them got jobs, but every once a while, when I talk to them… they express their regrets of not doing what they wanted to do.

That is the only difference between celebrities and us. They took their brave step, and we couldn’t. That’s it…!

People won’t believe, when u aspires to do something, and some might even make fun of you and your dreams…! But the same people will appreciate you, when you have succeeded.

Also, if we have some dreams, and keep on dreaming about the consequences, but not work towards it… then those dreams of ours will remain as dreams, forever…! Work hard, learn how to do it, try to know about the experiences of all those who has done it before, have hope, ignore the in numerous forces which will be trying to pull you back, all the time… and if not the first time, you will surely reach your dream destination very soon.

J. K. Rowling, Dr.Peuss, Walt Disney, Messi, Eminem and for that point, even Einstein as well. They all have failed many a times… but now they are the legends of their respective fields…!

Even we shall rise to such heights, if we have a dream and work towards it with constant hope and positive thinking…!

One sentence, which is giving me hope for my dream is that “Don’t rush things. Anything worth having is worth waiting for.”

Also… one last thing… “A million might have told you this before. Count me, the million plus one – You never know whether you have a tomorrow. Live as if it is your last day. Do, see, achieve and enjoy as much as you can… Today only.

Don’t wait for anyone to accompany you. No one will, anyway.

So, just don’t stop doing what you love, just because you have no companions. Live life, as per your wishes and dreams…!"
