Well, i always thought he was speaking about stocks and investments there, but i would like to relate it with Love and Time too.
WRT Money, if you put all that you have earned, on a Company's stocks or on a single bet...
WRT Time, if you have spent all your time, on a dream project of yours...
WRT Love, if you have put all your love and care, towards one single person...
And if things doesn't work out well and if that company loses its grip at stock market; or your Team loses in the last minute; or your dream lets you down; or that person could not become yours...
You will just be Shattered and like, Done-for-this-life !!
You might say, what if we study the stats and then invest? What if we know the prospects of the dream and then work on it? What if i understand the person, before i love?
Well... its a good trick !! But, tell me, how many times have your favorite team lost? How many times have you failed, despite doing well? How many times have people ditched your trust?
So, it is never suggestible... no matter, how favorable the odds are... To place all the eggs in one basket. Always have a life, other than that 'Basket of eggs', which should give you a reason to live... even if you lose that Basket !!
If you know that the ship you are on, is sinking and you sense it... Good!! Very good!! But, don't you hurry to jump out of it. You will always have some time to get out. Think. Plan. Save as much as you can, and then get out of it.
If you have pulled out all the eggs at once... what will your option be? You cannot just roam around having them in your hands. So, you will obviously look for another basket, to place them. In haste, what if you have placed them in a basket, worse than the previous one? And what if you do not have a chance to revert your decision, this time? You will lose it all !!!
So, when you know that the basket is not nice and that you have made a mistake of choosing it...
Take back slowly... all that you have placed in it, and start placing them in various other baskets.
In this process again, even if a few baskets turn out to be bad... The others will save you.
So, never hurry yourselves while giving your everything or taking back your everything from that something!!
